Boyaca Department is located in the center of the country, in the eastern cordillera of the Andes, located between 04 º 39'10''and 07 º 03'17''north latitude and 71 º 57'49''and 74 º 41'35 W''. It has an area of 23,189 km2 which represents 2.03% of national territory. Bordered on the north by the departments of Santander and Norte de Santander, on the east by the departments of Arauca and Casanare, in the south with Meta and Cundinamarca, and west with Cundinamarca and Antioquia
